The Forest Service has initiated a review period for the Blues Intergovernmental Council (BIC), with the Forest Supervisors inviting feedback from the group. As a reminder, this BIC includes an Environmental Nonprofit group as a member and has agreed to a Cooperating Agency Agreement, granting the Forest Service Lead Agency Authority over the group.
This email contains links to information about the Preliminary Draft Land Management Plan, the lists of species of conservation concern, and a draft final version of the Preliminary Need for Change document, provided below.
The Forest Service will also provide an evaluation of lands that may possess wilderness characteristics, expected by the end of this February. In early 2025, the Blue Mountains National Forests plan to announce a Notice of Intent (NOI) in the Federal Register to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) and release the draft materials we are currently seeking feedback on, even though the documents they are currently working from clearly go against the administrations guidance, memo's and executive orders, regarding Climate Change.
Additional details about the Blue Mountains Forest Plan Revision are available on the Forest Services website, which includes webinars, fact sheets, engagement opportunities, and a roadmap of the revision process.
